Juniel

Juniel (born Choi Seo-ah on September 3, 1993, in Seoul, South Korea) is a South Korean singer-songwriter. She began playing guitar as a child and wrote her first song, "Boy," at 16, which later appeared on her debut Japanese EP Ready Go (2011). Initially a trainee at Good Entertainment, she joined FNC Entertainment during middle school, winning the Japanese audition program Niji Iro Supernova, while studying abroad, which launched her music career in Japan. Juniel released several Japanese EPs, including Ready Go and Dream & Hope, before making her major label debut with Warner Music Japan through the single "Forever." Her second Japanese single, "Sakura ~Todokanu Omoi~" (さくら～とどかぬ想い～) was released in February 2012. In May, Juniel released her first Korean duet, "Fool," with Jung Yong-hwa, followed by her Korean debut EP, My First June, which featured the lead single "Illa Illa." This track gained popularity as the theme song for a character in the Korean drama A Gentleman's Dignity, where Juniel made a cameo appearance. Her second Korean EP, 1&1, released in November 2012, peaked at number 4 on the Gaon Album Chart, with the lead single "Bad Man" also charting well, earning her the Rookie Award at the 27th Golden Disk Awards in January 2013. Following this, she released her Japanese studio album Juni, featuring self-composed songs and a Japanese version of "Babo," a duet with CNBLUE's Jung Yong-hwa. Juniel unveiled her third Korean EP Fall in L, in April 2013, which included the popular track "Gwiyeoun Namja," followed by "I Think I'm in Love" in 2014 and released the EP Ordinary Things in 2017 which climbed to number 24. In 2020, Juniel formed the duo Poetic Narrator with musician/producer Doko, releasing their mini-album Poetic License in January. Juniel continued her musical endeavors under K Tigers Entertainment, releasing singles such as "Is This Love?" (2022) and "Flying" (2024).
