Multi-instrumentalist, producer and sound engineer, Dutchman Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL (or JXL, born 1967) is also a remixer and composer for video games, film and advertising. This creative appetite goes hand in hand with influences from progressive rock, metal and hip-hop. However, his personal albums, from Saturday Teenage Kick (1997) to Synthesized (2012), are of little note. Junkie XL is better known for his versatility on other projects: his first real success came in 2007 with the music for the video game Need for Speed: ProStreet. Under the friendly tutelage of Hans Zimmer, Junkie XL shines on the soundtracks for the films Divergent (2014) and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). Meanwhile, he composed the music for Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) on his own.
