Jarius Gay, better known by his stage name Juto, is an American R&B singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. Born in Springfield, Missouri, in 1998, he spent most of his childhood in Gwinnett, Georgia, and began sharing his own material online in 2015. His official debut came in 2017 with the single “Apple,” followed by the four-track concept EP Text Talk (2018), which explored relationships in the age of texting through song titles like “BTW” and “LOL.” Shortly after the release of his first EP, Juto was discovered by Odd Future’s Taco and became the first artist to sign with his new label Re7ax Records. 2019 was a busy year for the young artist, who opened for Lauryn Hill, featured on Logic’s “Can I Kick It,” and dropped two EPs— Velvet and Wool. The former contained the single “Homebody/Options” and “Wayback,” which accumulated over a million plays on streaming platforms thanks to its inclusion on the fourth season of the TV series On My Block in 2021.
