Kadavar

Kadavar is a rock band from Germany that was founded in 2010. Stylistically, the formation moves in the genres of proto, stoner and psychedelic rock. The original group consists of Christoph "Lupus" Lindemann (guitar and vocals) Philipp "Mammut" Lippitz (bass and vocals) and Christoph "Tiger" Bartelt (drums). The band repeatedly draws parallels to Krautrock, hence the German name, which is also understood internationally. Kadaver's role models include bands from the rock era of the early 1970s such as Pentagram, Hawkwind and Grand Funk Railroad. The self-titled debut album Kadaver reached number 30 in Germany in 2012. A year later, the band signed with Nuclear Blast and released the album Abra Kadavar. The album climbed to number 42 in Germany. In 2013, 2014 and 2018, Kadaver were nominated for the Metal Hammer Awards, a music prize awarded by the rock magazine Metal Hammer. With the albums Berlin (2015) and Rough Times (2017), the band's popularity in German-speaking countries increases. Both albums reach the charts in Austria and Switzerland for the first time. In 2019, Kadaver released another album, For the Dead Travel Fast. It entered the German top 10 for the first time at number 8. Another album, The Isolation Tapes, was released during the coronavirus pandemic. The longplayer reaches number 10 in Germany. In summer 2024, the debut album Kadaver is released in a revised version. In the meantime, the trio with keyboardist and guitarist Jascha Kreft has become a quartet.
