Kankaku Piero

The Japanese band Kankaku Piero was formed in 2013 by frontman Naohiro Yokoyama, guitarist Takuto Akizuki, bassist Daiki Takiguchi, and drummer Achilles Kenta. Based in Osaka, the musicians took an independent approach to their business operations from the very start, handling virtually all tasks — from songwriting to production to merchandise manufacturing — themselves. After building an audience with EPs like 2015's Break, the band reached a national audience in 2016, when the single "Haikei, Itsukanokimihe" was chosen as the theme song of the TV show We're Millennials. Got a Problem? Following offers from various record labels, Kankaku Piero formed its own independent imprint, JIJI, in 2017. "Harukamirai," the group's contribution to the Black Clover anime series, was released that same year and became a viral hit, with the full-length debut album Iroirotoiro arriving in 2018. Iroirotoiro cracked the Top 20 in Japan, where it peaked at Number 18. 1826, a mammoth collection of 69 songs, was also released in 2018, and Kankaku Piero continued releasing EPs and singles during the following years, with "HIBANA" becoming a Top 50 hit in 2021.
