Kaoma's "Lambada " was a record-breaker in France in 1989, and a worldwide hit. At the time, the song inaugurated the vogue for partnerships between record companies, television and brands. The group Kaoma, formed for the occasion, tried to continue afterwards, but none of its albums met with success comparable to the initial hit. Chico and Roberta, the children dancing in the video, had a top-five hit the following year with "Frente a frente". In 2011, Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor " is based on a sample of "Lambada".
