Katia Guerreiro is renowned for her lyrical style and the beauty of her lyrics. An ophthalmologist and then an emergency doctor, Katia Guerreiro's passion for Fado is her own. Her first album, Fado Maior, released in 2001, was heavily influenced by Amália Rodrigues, and included texts by Fernando Pessoa and Antonio Lobo Antunes. It was an immediate success, and continued in 2003 with Nas Mãos do Fado . Katia Guerreiro's high-quality Fado is tinged with jazz and Brazilian influences on Tudo ou Nada (2005), before she decides to sing her own lyrics on Fado (2008). Katia Guerreiro revives the sometimes forgotten gems of Fado on Os Fados do Fado (2009). In 2011, 10 Anos Nas Asas do Fado is a mix of new tracks and duets. In early 2012, this great artist released her first Best of, Patrimonio, and embarked on a tour that included a stop at the Olympia on January 23.
