K-pop singer Key was born Kim Ki-bum on September 23, 1991, in Daegu, South Korea. He signed with SM Entertainment in 2006 and rose to national fame as a member of the boy band Shinee in 2008. Alongside his bandmates, he became a superstar, frequently appearing in various television series. Key expanded his career into theater, taking the leading role in the 2012 stage musical Catch Me If You Can. This led to his portrayal of Clyde in the 2013 stage musical Bonnie & Clyde. Around this time, he also formed the duo Toheart with Woohyun, and the pair won the popularity award at the 29th Golden Disk Awards. In 2015, Key ventured into fashion design while continuing to expand his popularity as a performer. In 2017, he starred in the television series The Guardians, earning the Best New Actor award at the 30th Grimae Awards. Although he had been featured as a vocalist on various tracks before, Key officially launched his solo career with the 2018 LP Face, which reached number 5 in Korea, number 9 on the US World Charts, and number 9 in Japan. Later that year, he released the Japanese EP Hologram, which charted at number 4 in Japan. In 2019, Face was repackaged as I Wanna Be, which charted at number 3, with the single "Honest" achieving chart success as far as Indonesia. Key followed this with the EP Bad Love in September 2021, led by the top 5 single "Hate That" (featuring Taeyeon). The EP peaked at number 3. His sophomore album Gasoline was released in August 2022, hitting Number 1 in Korea as well as the top 25 in Japan. He supported the album with a concert titled G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) in the Keyland. On February 13, 2023, he released a reissue of Gasoline titled Killer, which reached number 6. His second Korean EP, Good & Great, was released on September 11, 2023, and charted at number 4, earning him several nominations for the Seoul Music Awards. In 2024, Key returned with the Japanese single "Tongue Tied," which landed at number 7 and EP Pleasure Shop.
