Hailing from Limerick, Irish folk trio Kingfishr consists of Edmond McKeogh (vocals, guitar), Eoghan McGrath (vocals, banjo) and Eoin Fitzgibbon (vocals, guitar). They met at university in 2017 and found a shared passion for perpetuating the folk tradition through its renewal by electric rock. Under their band name inspired by the kingfisher, the musicians borrow as much from Irish folklore as from modern instrumentation, and garnish their compositions with powerful vocal flights that have made them famous across the country. Their first single , "Flowers-Fire", unveiled in 2022, proved to be a long-running success, and was followed by a series of well-attended concerts. From then on, the hits followed in rapid succession, with "Shot in the Dark" in 2023, followed by "Caroline", "Eyes Don't Lie" and "I Cried, I Wept " in 2024. At the same time, the band released the acoustic EP Live from Doonane (2023), recorded live, then Shadow (2024), before their debut album Live from Dublin (2024), which marked a milestone in their ascent.
