Kneebody

Formed in 2001, the jazz quintet Kneebody brings together four alumni of the Eastman School of Music in New York: Adam Benjamin (keyboards), Shane Endsley (trumpet), Ben Wendel (tenor saxophone) and Kaveh Rastegar (bass), as well as drummer Nate Wood, a transfer from another Los Angeles school, CalArts. Based in Santa Monica, California, the quintet has released a series of adventurous albums on various labels, featuring avant-garde jazz, funk and post-rock: Kneebody (2005) and Low Electrical Worker (2007) precede a tribute to composer Charles Ives, Twelve Songs, produced with singer Theo Bleckmann. Between the albums You Can Have Your Moment (2010) and The Line (2013) come three live recordings, including one seized in Italy and another in Paris. Another collaboration, with DJ and producer Daedelus, appeared in 2016 under the title Kneedelus.
