Kome Kome Club is a Japanese band formed in 1982 by university club mates Tatsuya Ishii and Yasuhide Onoda, who debuted in October 1985 with the simultaneous release of the single "I Can Be" and the album "Shari Sharizumu". The following year, in 1988, the album "GO FUNK", which included the single "KOME KOME WAR", reached the top 10 for the first time, and in 1990, the single "Romantic Flight" was cut from "5 1/2", which also reached No. 1. In 1992, "Kimi ga iru dake da umareru" (Just because you are here), which was used as the theme song for a TV drama, became a big hit, selling 2.89 million copies and winning the 34th Japan Record Award in the same year. However, the band members' differences in direction began to cause friction, and a key member left in 1995, gradually making it difficult for the band to continue their activities. The release of the best album "Rice -Best of Best-" in 2005, which was voted by the fans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut, triggered the momentum for a reunion, and the band resumed its activities in 2006. In 2007, they released the album "komedia.jp" and participated in the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen for the first time in 11 years. In 2017, they released their last all-time best album, "LAST BEST - Hosaku Sangmai", and in 2021, they will release a single, "Ai wo Maite".
