Labess

An Algerian-Québécois music group fusing rumba and flamenco rhythms with roots in chaâbi music, Labess (meaning "Tout va bien" in Arabic) was formed in Montreal in 2004 by young Algerian singer-songwriter Nedjim Bouizzoul. A debut album, Tout Va Bien , was quickly released in 2007, helping Labess to make a name for itself. Thanks to its success, borders opened up and Labess began to travel and export his music. The albums Identité and La Route followed in 2012 and 2016 respectively, enabling the band to consolidate its fan base, while attracting new audiences at the many festivals it plays at in countries such as Tunisia, Morocco, Colombia, Cape Verde, England, Cuba, Belgium and, of course, Canada. A new opus, entitled Yemma, will be released in 2021.
