Lacrimosa

Lacrimosa is a music project founded in 1990. The head of the project is the German-Swiss Tilo Wolff. The artist is supported vocally by Anne Nurmi. She also plays keyboards. Initially, Lacrimosa's music was in the dark wave genre. In the mid-1990s, the musical style shifted more and more towards symphonic metal. The first demo album Clamor was released in 1990. The first albums Angst (1991), Einsamkeit (1992) and Satura (1993) did not make it into the charts. It was not until Inferno reached number 81 in 1995 that they made their first chart entry in Germany. Lacrimosa's first breakthrough came with the 1999 album Elodia. The album climbed to number 12 in Germany. The album single "Alleine zu zweit" also made it to number 52 in the German charts. With the successors Fassade (2001, number 20 in Germany) and Echos (2003, number 13 in Germany), the band released two more successful albums. In 2009, the album Sehnsucht also entered the charts for the first time in Austria (number 68) and Switzerland (number 82). The album reached number 35 in Germany. Lacrimosa then regularly released albums that reached the top 40 in Germany, including Revolution (2012), Hoffnung (2015), Testimonium (2017) and Leidenschaft (2021). The sequel to the previous album, Leidenschaft, Pt.2, followed in 2022.
