Lafleyne, born in 1999, is a French R&B and pop singer of Madagascan origin. Raised in a Protestant family, she discovered music at an early age through the polyphonic chants of Malagasy worship services. Her pseudonym is an adaptation of her first name, Lalaina, and reflects her determination to bring her artistic projects to fruition. At 19, she received an AKAI MP3 mini keyboard and taught herself music production on FL Studio. Between 2018 and 2020, she made a name for herself by releasing covers by artists such as Nekfeu, Hamza and Aya Nakamura. In 2020, she unveiled her first track Nana, followed by Fashion Killa and Vanilla Sky. In 2023, she appears on the album Des perles et des cendres, produced by La Place, alongside Berry, Anglade and Beeby. The track Chéri, featuring Angie, earned her a pre-nomination for Flammes 2024. In May 2024, Lafleyne released her debut EP Gold Digger, a project in which she explored R&B and pop sounds, before offering a Live Session reissue. Her musical style fuses R&B, pop and soul influences, with introspective, melodic songwriting.
