The Colombian reggaeton artist Lalo Ebratt was born Eduardo Troncoso in 1993 in Santa Marta, an historic town in the country's Caribbean region. He rose to prominence as a member of the Latin hip-hop group Trapical Minds who have become one of Colombia's most influential groups in the genre and features the singers Skinny Happy and Yera. Ebratt's career as a solo artist took off in 2018 after the release of the single 'Mocca'. The track was a viral hit on the Internet and garnered more than 140 million views firmly establishing him as an artist in his own right. Through his own material he has broken away from the confines of hip-hop and traces of trap, soul, afrobeat and funk can be detected in his music. He cites Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams as being influential in his early musical development. With his flamboyant dress sense and distinctive vocal delivery he has endeared himself to Latin audiences throughout his native Columbia and beyond, his videos drawing in viewers in their millions.
