Larry Hernández

Larry Hernández is a Mexican-American singer-songwriter who specializes in the Banda, Pacific Norteño, and Norteño-Banda genres. Born on March 10, 1977, in Los Angeles, California, his family moved back to Mexico when he was just 4 years old, settling down in Pueblos Unidos-Estación Obispo, a small town near Culiacán, Sinaloa. A self-taught musician, he began writing music as early as the age of 8, inspired by the work of narcocorrido pioneer Chalino Sánchez. After attending a music school in Culiacán, he became the drummer for a local group named Los Amables del Norte and later made his solo debut on the 1998 Cornelio Reyna tribute, Mil Botellas. Centella Norteña, his first studio album, dropped in 1999 and was followed by other well-received releases such as Mil Noches (2001), El Amigo de Todos (2003), Linda Chiquilla (2004), Arrepiente (2005), Se Busca Cantar Buenos Corridos (2006), and Déjate Querer Tantito (2008). However, it was 2009's 16 Narco Corridos that finally thrusted him into the spotlight, reaching Number 4 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart and selling over 300,000 copies. Recorded in just one day, 16 Narco Corridos provided a detailed picture of the drug trafficking culture in Northern Mexico on tracks like "Mal Encachado y Buchón" and "El Baleado." The album's popularity turned Larry Hernández into a celebrity almost overnight, helping him win the Latin Artist of the Year category at the Latin Billboard Music Awards in 2010 and land a deal with Universal Music Latin Entertainment. Over the next few years, he starred in his own reality show Larrymania and continued to consolidate his fame through the albums Larryvolucion (2012), 16 Narcos Corridos Volumen 2 (2015), Lo Blanco y Lo Negro de Mi Vida (2017), and Corridos de Mafia, Volumen 1 (2020). In 2023, he collaborated with Norteño group Los Dareyes de la Sierra on the single "Las 745."
