Although not widely known by jazz fans outside of his native Sweden, double bass player and cellist Lars Danielsson has recorded 21 albums including eight with the Lars Danielsson Quartet, a combo he formed in 1985 with saxophonist Dave Liebman, pianist Bobo Stenson and drummer Jon Christensen. During the course of his professional career he has recorded with some of the top names in modern jazz including Jack DeJohnette, Mike Stern, John Schofield, Billy Hart and Dave Kikoski. As well as being a first class player he is also a highly respected composer and arranger. In 2016 Danielsson released two albums: 'The Lars Nielsson Songbook' on which he features as a solo piano player and bassist, and 'Sun Blowing', a collaboration with Norwegian saxophonist Marius Nest and Danish drummer Morten Lund. He followed these up with his 2017 release 'Liberetto III'.
