Born in Marrakesh, Morocco, on July 4, 1985, Youssef Akdim aka Lartiste borrows his pseudonym from the role of Tom Sizemore in Michael Mann's film Heat . After a first EP, "Évasion", self-produced in 2006 and the Rap 1.9 mixtape in 2010, Lartiste from Bondy (Seine-Saint-Denis) is signed by Hostile Records (EMI) for his first full-length, logically entitled Lalbum. His collaboration on Rim'K's "Déconnectés " in summer 2014 was followed by a second album, Fenomeno, released in March 2015. A year almost to the day, his successor Maestro is released, featuring contributions from Lefa and Clayton Hamilton. A commercial success, it was certified platinum six months after its release, while its successor Clandestino, driven by the duet "Chocolat" with Awa Imani, was released at the end of 2016, certified diamond disc, while the album received a platinum disc. In 2017, the collaboration "C'est une frappe" with DJ Hamida is certified gold, before the 2018 release of the fifth album Grandestino, featuring the tracks "Mafiosa" with Caroliina and "Catchu". The opus, ranked No. 9 in the French charts and No. 18 in Belgium, is certified double platinum. A year later, Quartier Latin Vol. 1 unveiled collaborations with Sofiane, Koba LaD, Landy and Heuss l'Enfoiré, but failed to approach the scores of previous albums. In 2020, Lartiste returned with a 30-track album, Comme Avant, featuring contributions from Nassi, Mizi, Balti, Chily, Busy Signal, l'Epicier, Sofia Mestari and Lyna Mahyem on "Bolingo" . After releasing the single "Foto " with Néj' in 2022, the rapper signed the seven-track EP Soledad Saison 1 in 2025, which reached number 193 in the French charts.
