Lauren Mayberry

Lauren Eve Mayberry, born on October 7, 1987, in Scotland, is the lead vocalist and percussionist of the synth-pop band Chvrches. Alongside bandmates Iain Cook and Martin Doherty, Mayberry contributes to songwriting and production, showcasing her talents on drums and keyboards as well. Known for her soprano voice, she has a background in music that predates her time with Chvrches, having played drums in various bands from age 15 and been part of local bands like Boyfriend/Girlfriend and Blue Sky Archives. Mayberry's journey with Chvrches began when Cook, previously of Aereogramme and The Unwinding Hours, produced an EP for Blue Sky Archives and later invited her to sing on some demos. This collaboration led to the formation of Chvrches, who chose their distinct spelling to stand out in internet searches. Their breakthrough came with tracks like "Lies" (2012) and "The Mother We Share"(2012) leading to their signing with Glassnote Records and the release of their debut album, The Bones of What You Believe, in 2013. In addition to her work with Chvrches, Mayberry has collaborated with various artists, including Marshmello and Robert Smith of The Cure. In 2023, she ventured into a solo career, releasing singles like "Are You Awake?" and "Shame" and announcing a solo tour. Her single "Something In the Air" was released in 2024, marking a significant step in her evolving musical journey.
