Born on August 18, 1959, Lise Jalbert, known professionally as Laurence Jalbert, is a Québécois pop singer. In 1990, after touring Quebec for over ten years with the groups The Kids and Volt, she released her self-titled debut solo album which was a commercial success thanks to the songs "Au nom de la raison," "En courant," "Rage," and "Tomber." In October 1990, she received two Félix Awards at the Gala de l'ADISQ, one for Best Newcomer and another for Music Video of the Year. In the spring of 1991, she performed in the concert Le Québec A des Elles in front of 60,000 people in Montreal. In 1993, she released her second album titled Corridors, which featured four chart-topping songs: "Bella," "Corridor," "Encore et encore," and "Et la regarder" with the album earning Jalbert two Prix Félix awards for Best Pop/Rock Album and Song of the Year. Jalbert released her third album in the spring of 1998, titled Avant le Squall, performing live in the winter of 1999 with Dan Bigras, released as an album later that year, entitled Communio. In November 2001, her album ...Et J'Espère was released, featuring the hit single "Jeter un sort" reaching the top 10 on the Quebec charts. In February 2004, Jalbert released a compilation of her greatest career hits, returning in November with holiday record Noël des Anges (Angels' Christmas). After an extended hiatus, she returned in 2011 with cover album Une Lettre, which included reinterpretations of many of her own songs, publishing an autobiography in 20215 titled À la Vie, À la Mer and an album paying tribute to revered singer Nana Mouskouri entitled Au pays de Nana Mouskouri. In 2021, she toured the province of Quebec offering acoustic and intimate versions of her greatest hits in the show En toute intimité.
