Sibling soul-pop duo Lawrence, aka Clyde Lawrence and Gracie Lawrence, grew up listening, writing and performing music together in New York City. Honing their skills in a creative household that included their filmmaker, screenwriter and director father Marc Lawrence – known for his work on Miss Congeniality and Music and Lyrics – as well as a younger musical brother, Linus Lawrence, the pair have amassed an impressive raft of achievements over the past few decades. In 2000, Clyde Lawrence became the youngest member of the Songwriters Guild of America, receiving a nod aged six for his Miss Congeniality composition and in 2007, scored another win writing parts of the original score for rom-com Music & Lyrics, as well as "Dance with Me Tonight," performed by Hugh Grant in the movie. He also scored songwriting credits on films including Did You Hear About the Morgans? (2009), The Rewrite (2015) and Landline (2017) and became one of the youngest ever composers to work on a Disney film in 2019, co-composing the entire score for the 2019 Disney+ film Noelle, alongside Cody Fitzgerald. Gracie Lawrence can also count her own list of accolades and achievements, having acted on Broadway, television and in films for over a decade, among these a gig playing Julie Gardner on the main cast of thriller CBS-All Access series One Dollar in 2018. Lawrence was initially known as The Clyde Lawrence Band in the early 2010s before Gracie Lawrence became co-lead singer and they changed their name to Lawrence. They began making a name for themselves on the New York live circuit and, aided by a growing line-up of bandmates, marked their debut in 2016 with the release of Breakfast, which was produced by Grammy winner Eric Krasno. Their second album, Living Room, was released in September 2018, which was co-produced by bandmates Jordan Cohen (tenor/baritone saxophone) and Jonny Koh (guitar), among others. An acoustic album, Breakfast: Unscrambled (Acoustic Sessions), also arrived in 2018, with two live albums later following: The Live Album (Part 1) (2020) and The Live Album (Part 2) (2021). Now an eight-piece group, with Gracie Lawrence and Clyde Lawrence still at its core, Lawrence dropped a new full-length, Hotel TV (2022), followed by Family Business (2024) and acoustic versions of their songs in Acoustic-ish: An Album...ish (2024).
