Layla Zoe

Layla Zoe is a Canadian blues rocker based in Europe whose performances and albums have won her an international reputation as heir to the late icon Janis Joplin. In a review of her 2016 release 'Breaking Free' the Louder Sound website called her style "passionate blues-rock with integrity and a Joplin-esque heart" and said the album was "well-balanced, diverse and hard-hitting". After performing in her home city at a young age, she moved to Toronto where in 2006 she made her recording debut on 'Shades of Blue'. Well-received collaborations with American blues man Sonny Landreth and the late Canadian blues singer Jeff Healey plus success in blues competitions in Europe opened up that market to her and she relocated to Germany. Her other albums include 'The Firegirl' (2009), 'Lily' (2013), 'Breaking Free' (2016), 'Live at Spirit of 66' (2016) and 'Blues Caravan: Blue Sisters' (2017) with fellow blues singers Tasha Taylor from America and Ina Forsman, with whom she toured. Also in 2017, she released another live album and DVD titled 'Songs from the Road'. Her 2018 schedule included appearances at the Mahindra Blues Festival in Mumbai, Open Air Blues Festival in Brezoi, Romania and the Ingoldstadt Blues Festival and Burg Herzberg Festival in Germany.
