Leandro Ríos, known as “El Penco,” is a Regional Mexican singer born on October 19, 1982, in Los Ramones, Nuevo León. His early passion for norteño music, inspired by icons like Ramón Ayala and Lorenzo de Monteclaro, led him to release his debut album El Maestro in 2007. After signing with Remex Music, he gained national attention with the single “Una No Es Ninguna” from Debo Seguir, solidifying his place in the genre. His fourth album Piporreando paid tribute to the legendary Piporro, followed by Raíces Norteñas, which featured the smash hit “Debajo del Sombrero” alongside Pancho Uresti. The duet earned them a Bandamax Award for “Duet of the Year” and a Premio Lo Nuestro nomination in 2016. The two collaborated again on “Hay Un Ranchero En La Ciudad,” featured in the telenovela Amores con Trampa. By 2017, Leandro Ríos’s reach extended to Central America, including Guatemala and Colombia. During the 2020 pandemic, he stayed active by launching online shows El Depósito del Penco and Las Banqueteras with Remex TEVEE. In 2022, he celebrated 15 years in music with the release of the single “La Última y Nos Vamos,” continuing to fuse tradition with fresh norteño energy. The following year, he released the studio album Un Amor Bonito, followed by Borracho Enfadoso (2024) and Diecisiete (2025).
