Lemmy Kilmister

A true rock legend, Lemmy Kilmister (1945-2016) has lived many lives. Starting out as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix, he became by chance - without ever having touched an instrument - bassist in the space rock band Hawkwind. Motörhead' s 1977 album was a milestone in the history of sleepy hard rock, and became the first speed metal record. Lemmy Kilmister imposed his basic, violent bass playing, his guttural voice and his 100% rock'n'roll lifestyle, and became the symbol of greasers the world over. A true character, totally authentic and honest, Lemmy Kilmister became, alongside his fabulous career with Motörhead, a figure of the rock world. In 2010, the documentary Lemmy retraces his career, with an impressive parade of testimonials. It's not for nothing that his fans enthusiastically declare: "Lemmy Is God". He died of cancer on December 28, 2015, at the age of 70.
