Lenny Kravitz

American rock singer, musician, songwriter and music producer Leonard Albert "Lenny" Kravitz was born on May 26, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York City. Influenced by jazz, soul, blues, rock, and gospel, his musical career began during high school, recording his first tapes and performing under the pseudonym Romeo Blue, during the early 1980s, signing his first record contract in 1989. In the same year, he released his debut album Let Love Rule, which charted in both Europe and the U.S.A. After co-writing and producing the song "Justify My Love" for Madonna in 1990, he landed his first Number 1 on the U.S Billboard Charts, however his definitive solo breakthrough came in 1991 with his second album Mama Said, and the single "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over" which reached number 2. Continuing to attract global attention, his 1993 album Are You Gonna Go My Way topped the U.K album charts but it was the hit song "Fly Away" from his fifth album 5 (1998) that skyrocketed to Number 1 in several countries, earning him a Grammy for Best Male Rock Performance. Subsequent albums charted highly across Europe with Lenny (2001) reaching Number 1 in Austria, Baptism (2004) landing at number 2 in Germany, and It Is Time for a Love Revolution (2008) taking the top spot in Switzerland, simultaneously achieving the highest U.S album placement in the singer’s career, reaching number 4 on the Billboard 200. In September 2014, Kravitz released his tenth studio album Strut, followed by its successor Raise Vibration in 2018. Penning and performing "Road to Freedom," for the film Rustin, Kravitz received a nomination for Best Original Song at both the 2023 Golden Globe and Academy Awards, releasing “I Believe in Love Again” (with Peggy Gou) in December, unveiling his 12th album, Blue Electric Light in March, 2024.
