Leo Sujatovich

Leonardo Fabián Sujatovich (born in Buenos Aires on March 24, 1960) is an Argentine pianist and composer. A key member of Argentina’s rock nacional movement, he rose to prominence as the keyboardist for Luis Alberto Spinetta’s Spinetta Jade project, where he made extensive use of the Prophet-5 synthesizer on the albums Bajo Belgrano and Mondo di Cromo, both released in 1983. Before that, Sujatovich lent his talents to folk rock supergroup PorSuiGieco and prog rock outfit Tantor. Throughout the 80s and 90s, he released the albums Inédito (1985) and Dulces Sueños (1993) and wrote the score for several Argentine feature films such as Chorros (1987), La Furia (1997), Pizza, Birra, Faso (1998), and La Sonámbula, Recuerdos del Futuro (1999). During the early aughts, Sujatovich indulged in his passion for tango with the Grammy-nominated Trío de Camara, Tangos (2002), Tango Ritual (2005), and Tango Brujo (2005), which was written for Julio Bocca’s ballet ensemble. In subsequent years, he won a Carlos Gardel Award for his 2009 album Lujo de Tangos and recorded a couple of albums with his son Mateo: Energía Radio 2016 and Caminante del Amor in 2018. In the wake of the new decade, Sujatovich wrote the music for a TV ad entitled “Un último adiós,” which served as a tribute to the late football legend Diego Armando Maradona.
