The band Leoniden was founded in Kiel, Germany, in 2014 and combines indie rock, pop and punk in its sound. The founding members are Lennart and Felix Eicke, Jakob Amr, Djamin Izadi and JP Neumann. Their energetic live performances and catchy melodies have quickly made them one of the leading indie bands in Germany. Their debut album Leoniden was released in 2017 and made it into the German charts. They reached the top 40 with their second album Again (2018), and the single "Kids" became particularly popular. Their third album Complex Happenings Reduced to a Simple Design (2021) landed at the top of the German charts. They caused a stir with the single "New 68" from 2023. The Leonids' music is characterized by complex rhythms, electronic elements and catchy choruses. Their unique blend of genres and focus on live performances have earned the band a loyal fan base. The Leonids have received several awards for their work, including the 2021 "Prize for Pop Culture" in the "Favorite Band" category. In 2024, the Leonids returned with the album Sophisticated Sad Songs. The album climbed to number 2 in Germany.
