With a long and tumultuous history, Les Ambassadeurs is a Malian supergroup, with singers Salif Keita and Ousmane Dia, saxophonist Moussa "Vieux" Cissokho and musicians who have gravitated towards the group, such as Ali Farka Touré and Cheick Tidiane Seck. From its formation in Bamako in 1970, through political exile in Côte d'Ivoire, to its break-up at the height of its fame in 1985, Les Ambassadeurs, renamed Les Ambassadeurs Internationaux, was Mali's biggest band thanks to its ambition, professionalism and the multiple funk, jazz, salsa, rock and chanson influences in its repertoire, paving the way for hits such as "Mana Mana", "Mandjou " and " Kandja". Re-formed at the instigation of Salif Keita, the celebrated new-format group recorded the EP Rebirth, released in 2015.
