Lindigo

Lindigo perpetuates the tradition of maloya, a musical style originally derived from the songs of African slaves brought to RĂ©union by French planters. The Lindigo group is part of the new generation of maloya musicians, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. Lindigo debuted in 2005 with Misaotra Mama, then revisited the Malagasy roots of maloya with Zanatany in 2006. In 2009, the Reunionese group highlighted the multi-cultural nature of their island on Lafrikindmada . Produced with the help of Fixi from Java, Maloya Power is a reminder in 2012 that maloya is also a music of combat.
