Lionel Bringuier

A cellist and conductor born in Nice in 1986, Lionel Bringuier entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris in 2000, graduating four years later. He turned to conducting, winning first prize at the Besançon International Competition in 2005, before being hired by Esa-Pekka Salonen as assistant conductor at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and then resident conductor until 2013. Between 2009 and 2012, he was Music Director of the Castilla y Leon Symphony Orchestra in Valladolid, then conducted the Orchestre de Bretagne and, from 2014, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. He has made two recordings of Ravel's works with Chinese pianist Yuja Wang.
