Formed in 1991, Liquid is a British electronic/breakbeat/techno outfit originally formed by Eamon Downes (AKA Ames) and Shane Haneghan (AKA DJ Model). Liquid is best known for the single “Sweet Harmony” (1992), which heavily sampled CeCe Rogers’ 1987 hit “Someday”. Liquid’s first self-released EP, Liquid, came out in 1991. The EP featured “Sweet Harmony”. In 1992, the duo signed to XL Recordings, who issued “Sweet Harmony” as a single. It became a hit, climbing to Number 15 on the UK chart. Later that year, Liquid released The Future Music EP which included the single "Liquid is Liquid". After the release of the second EP, Haneghan left Liquid, leaving Downes as the sole member. "Time To Get Up" was the next Liquid single, hitting Number 46 on the UK chart in 1993. The debut album, Culture, was released in 1995 and featured the previous singles as well as three additional singles – “Liquid Love”, “Closer”, and “One Love Family (Your Teeth In My Neck)” – all of which landed in the Top 50. Downes took a break from Liquid for nearly 20 years, releasing remixes of “Sweet Harmony” in 2007 and 2010. Liquid returned in 2017 and released the album Energy Flows. The limited-edition third album, Spacemonkey, was released in 2019.
