Born in Stockholm, Sweden on July 29, 1971, Lisa Ekdahl is a jazz vocalist known for her gentle voice. She began her career singing in jazz clubs with the Peter Nordahl Trio when she was 19. Noting influences by Astrud Gilberto and Blossom Dearie, she sang on two albums with them: When Did You Leave Heaven? (1997) and Back to Earth (1998). She recorded several albums in Swedish and English including Lisa Ekdahl Sings Salvadore Poe (2001), Heaven, Earth and Beyond (2003) and Give Me That Slow Knowing Smile (2009). Her 2011 release Lisa Ekdahl at the Olympia, Paris features her regular band line-up of Mathias Blomdahl on guitar, percussion, and piano, Tomas Hallonsten on piano, Hammond organ and trumpet and Josef Zackrisson on bass and percussion. In 2018, Lisa Ekdahl released the single “I Know You Love Me” featuring Ibrahim Maalouf, followed in the same year by the album More of the Good. After a three-year break, Lisa Ekdahl released the album Grand Songs in 2021. The album was an album of cover versions including songs originally recorded by Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, the Beatles, the Monkees, the Righteous Brothers, Diana Ross & the Supremes, and others.
