English folk singer, songwriter and musician Lisa Knapp was born in the south London suburb of Balham in 1974. She took violin lessons as a child and played in the school orchestra, before moving away from classical music to electro and hip-hop in her teens. As an adult, she discovered British folk music and immersed herself in this universe. She took up the fiddle again and performed on the local scene. She met Irish musician Gerry Diver, whom she married in 2003 and who became her producer when, noticed by Youth (Martin Glover), Lisa Knapp had the opportunity to record a critically acclaimed debut album, Wild and Undaunted (2007). Also playing banjo and autoharp, the performer returned to recording in 2013 with Hidden Seam, featuring Martin Carthy and Kathryn Williams. The press is full of praise for this second album and the following one, Till April Is Dead - A Garland of May (2017). In 2025, Hinterland is credited to both husband and wife.
