Lisa Marie Presley

As the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie Presley was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 1, 1968, into rock'n'roll royalty. She grew up in the famous Graceland mansion, was briefly married to Michael Jackson (one of four husbands) and ultimately surprising everyone by belatedly revealing that she'd inherited at least some of the family genes with a couple of successful albums of her own songs. After the deaths of her grandfather, Vernon Presley, and her great grandmother Minnie Mae Presley, she inherited her father’s estate. Married at 20 to musician Danny Keough, she first came to public attention, appearing in a 1997 duet singing “Don't Cry Daddy” along with her late father especially for a tribute concert marking the 20th anniversary of his death. It was another six years before she recorded in her own right with the album To Whom It May Concern and the single “Lights Out.” Almost entirely self-written, the album surprised a lot of people, reaching Number 5 on the US album chart. Second album Now What - which included covers of Don Henley's “Dirty Laundry” and The Ramones' “Here Today And Gone Tomorrow” - also reached the US Top 10, while she duetted with her father again on the 30th anniversary of his death in 2007, adding her vocals to one of his biggest hits, “In The Ghetto.” Produced by T-Bone Burnett, her third album, Storm & Grace (2012), offered a rootsier style described in one review as a ‘moody masterpiece.’ She also collaborated with a variety of artists, including Pat Benatar and Richard Hawley, and became equally famous for her charity work and humanitarian efforts. However, she received plenty of attention from the tabloids for her controversial marriages to Michael Jackson(1994 to 1996) and actor Nicholas Cage (August to November 2002). On January 12, 2023, Lisa Marie Presley died from cardiac arrest at the age of 54.
