Little Axe is the project of Skip McDonald, American guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and singer. A former regular on the Sugarhill label with his old accomplices, bassist Doug Wimbish and drummer Keith LeBlanc, he took part in the recording of rap classics. With them, and at the instigation of Adrian Sherwood, head of the On-U-Sound label, he formed the Tackhead studio group in London. Together, they co-produced a large number of groups. In 1992, Skip set up the Little Axe project, a fusion of dub and blues in which he also started singing. His first track, " Ride On ", was released the following year, followed by the album The Wolf That House Built in 1994. After a long break, Little Axe released two albums on Peter Gabriel's label, Real World Records. His sixth album, You Want Loyalty Buy A Dog, was released in 2011.
