Loco Locass

Quebec rap group first formed under the name Locos Loquaces in Quebec City (Canada) in 1995, by Biz and Batlam (then nicknamed Snou). In 1998, the group teamed up with Chaffik and changed its name to Loco Locass. In March 1999, they took part in the Révélation Hip-Hop 99 contest, winning second prize. In the fall of the same year, they entered another contest, the Francouvertes. In February 2000, they won the final against Abitibi songwriter Gaétan Leboeuf and the Cowboys Fringants. Their debut album Manifestif was released on October 16, 2000. They played their first show to a full house at Club Soda in Montreal on January 25, 2001. The same year, they win the Félix for Hip-Hop Album of the Year at the ADISQ gala. In the summer of 2003, the band released the interactive CD In Vivo , featuring six new songs, plus computer-only content: live performances, video sequences and an animation based on the paintings of painter Jean-Paul Riopelle. Fall 2004 sees the release of the album Amour Oral. Libérez-nous des libéraux ", a song denouncing the attitude of Jean Charest's provincial government and Paul Martin's federal government, quickly became a hit in Quebec. In 2007, the three Loco Locass members were named Patriots of the Year by the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society of Montreal. The award is presented each year to an individual who has distinguished himself or herself in the defense of Quebec's interests. During the 2009 playoffs, the group created a rally song for the Montreal Canadiens field hockey team, entitled " Le But ". In spring 2012, the band releases the album Le Québec Est Mort, Vive le Québec! and hits number one on Quebec radio with the track " La Mémoire de Loco Locass ".
