Lord Huron

The brainchild of singer-songwriter Ben Schneider, Lord Huron are an American indie folk and indie rock band from Michigan. Schneider began performing under the name Lord Huron in 2010 and recorded the EPs Into the Sun (2010), Mighty (2010), and Time to Run (2012) as a solo artist. By the time their debut album Lonesome Dreams came out in October 2012, Lord Huron had become a full-fledged band with the addition of drummer Mark Barry, bassist Miguel Briseño, and guitarist Tom Renaud. Lonesome Dreams debuted at Number 5 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums Chart and spawned a series of Western-inspired accompanying videos inspired by Michael Ondaatje’s 1970 pulp fiction novel The Collected Works of Billy the Kid: Left-Handed Poems. Lord Huron followed up in 2015 with Strange Trails, which garnered positive reviews and topped Billboard’s Folk Albums chart. “The Night We Met,” one of the album’s singles, was certified platinum by the RIAA. Following the release of the singles “Ancient Names” and “Wait by the River,” their third LP Vide Noir (French for “Black Void”) saw the light in 2018 and also rose to the top of the US Folk Albums Chart, selling over 28,000 copies. After a series of live-stream shows titled Alive from Whispering Pines amidst the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, Lord Huron dropped their fourth full-length Long Lost in 2021. The album topped Billboard’s Folk Albums chart once again and earned the band their first Number 1 hit with the single “Not Dead Yet.”
