Belgian violinist Lorenzo Gatto was born in Brussels on December 2, 1986, and began playing the instrument at the age of five. After studying with Véronique Bogaerts at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, he took lessons with Herman Krebbers in the Netherlands, Augustin Dumay in Brussels and Boris Kuschnir in Vienna, and attended a masterclass with Salvatore Accardo. Voted second prize by the public at the 2009 Queen Elisabeth International Competition, Lorenzo Gatto embarks on an international solo career, recording for UT3 Records, Figura Libera, Zig-Zag Territories and Cypres. Founder of the Cl4ssik organization for the development of young talent, the musician is deeply involved in Brussels' musical life. Artist in residence at Bozar during the 2010-2011 season, he subsequently undertook the recording of Beethoven's complete sonatas for violin and piano with Julien Libeer for the Alpha label (2016-2019), the first volume of which was awarded a Diapason d'or. Lorenzo Gatto also plays with the Trio Saint-Exupéry, in the company of Camille Thomas and Béatrice Berrut.
