The deathcore band Lorna Shore formed in Warren County, New Jersey, in early 2009. Armed with a hard-hitting sound inspired by thrash, and symphonic metal, metalcore, the group made its debut with the self-released EP Triumph in 2010. Bone Kingdom and Maleficium followed in 2012 and 2013, respectively, with both EPs showcasing experimental tendencies that would soon give way to a focused, fiery deathcore approach. By the time Lorna Shore made its full-length debut with 2015's Psalms, the band had firmly entrenched itself within the deathcore community. Psalms reached Number 23 on the US Heatseekers Albums chart, while 2017's Flesh Coffin rose to Number 3. Flesh Coffin also marked the band's final release with founding bassist Gary Herrera, frontman Tom Barber, and rhythm guitarist Connor Deffley. After reshuffling its lineup, Lorna Shore signed with Century Media and released a third full-length album, Immortal, in January 2020. The record reached Number 40 in Australia and Number 90 in Germany, although vocalist CJ McCreery was fired shortly before its release and replaced by Will Ramos. With guitarist Andrew O'Connor and bassist Michael Yager also joining the lineup, Lorna Shore reached a newfound peak with 2002's Pain Remains, which cracked the Top 10 in Austria, Finland, in Switzerland. It also reached Number 5 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums chart and Number 150 on the US Billboard 200.
