Los Dareyes de la Sierra

Los Dareyes de la Sierra is a Regional Mexican group originally formed in 1997 in Navojoa, Sonora, by musicians who first called themselves Los Llegadores de Sonora. Facing initial financial challenges and subsequent legal issues over their band name, they transitioned through “Los Alteños de la Sierra” before settling on “Los Dareyes de la Sierra,” a title that quickly gained recognition in both Mexico and the United States. Their original lineup featured José Darey Castro (lead vocals and accordion), José Miguel Enríquez (second vocals and bass), and Alberto Verdugo Leyva (guitar). Renowned for their distinctive sierreño-norteño sound, Los Dareyes de la Sierra built a loyal following with albums such as El Águila Real (2005), Cigarro de Hoja (2005), Directo (2006), En la Mira (2007), and La Dueña de Mi Vida (2009). Their catalog includes standout hits like “Corrido del Chapo,” “Los Cuatro Grandes,” “Muñeca Ojos de Miel,” “Dueña de mi Vida,” “El Tamarindo,” “De Pies a Cabeza,” “Chiquito Pero Picoso,” “Quisiera Ser Una Lágrima,” “Tu Perfume,” “El Águila Real,” and “El Jabalí.” Despite adversity—including the tragic loss of several members in a violent incident in Chihuahua—the band, under Darey Castro’s leadership, continued to tour and produce music, incorporating both traditional corridos and controversial narcocorridos that reflect real-life stories from their region. Their 2024 collaboration with Luis R. Conriquez and influencer Yeri Mua on the track "Ducati" showcased their versatility and willingness to explore new musical territories.
