Los Melodicos

Los Melódicos, one of Venezuela’s most iconic tropical music bands, was founded in 1958 and quickly rose to prominence as a major force in the genre. Their debut performance on July 15, 1958, aired on Radio Caracas Televisión, and that same year, they released their first album, Estos son Los Melódicos. Known for their vibrant style and dynamic performances, the band achieved international acclaim in 1959, becoming the first Venezuelan group to tour abroad with a landmark performance in Havana, Cuba. Founded by Renato Capriles, with influences and arrangements from Billo Frómeta, Los Melódicos mirrored the success of the Billo's Caracas Boys while carving their unique identity. Over the decades, the band featured an evolving lineup of talented singers, including Niro Keller, Diveana, Verónica Rey, and Argenis Carruyo. Their legacy includes more than 100 albums and accolades like nine Congo de Oro awards at the Barranquilla Carnival. Known for hits like "Apágame la Vela," Los Melódicos became synonymous with joy and celebration, captivating audiences across Latin America. Despite the passing of Renato Capriles in 2014, the band continues to honor its rich history, showcasing the enduring appeal of tropical Venezuelan music.
