Formed in Argentina in 1986, Los Pericos is a reggae/ska rock band that has enjoyed massive success throughout South America and internationally. They are acknowledged as the first reggae rock band in Argentina. Los Pericos released their first album, El Ritual De La Banana, in 1987. The album achieved triple Platinum status and became the year’s best-selling album. They released King Kong, their second album, in 1988, followed by the vinyl release Maxi Anfitreu (1989). By the time they released their fourth album, Big Yuyo in 1993, they were invited to play the sixth Reggae Sunsplash Festival in Jamaica. In 1995, the band toured the United States and recorded for the first time in America. The band released the hugely successful Pampas Reggae album in 1994, which included the hit single “Mucha Experiencia”. In 1997, the appeared on two separate tribute albums to The Police: one was a reggae tribute, the other, a Latin tribute. With each successive release, they continued to grow their audience at home and abroad. Los Pericos toured South America and North America to adoring audiences and released successful albums such as Mystic Love (1998), 7 (2005), Pura Vida (2008), and Soundamerica (2016).
