The British indie-rock super duo Lost Horizons consisted of bass player Simon Raymonde, best known as a member of Cocteau Twins, and drummer Richard Thomas, who played in both Dif Juz as well as The Jesus and Mary Chain. The twosome began working together in the mid-2010s, and issued their debut album, Ojalá, in 2017 on Raymonde’s own label, Bella Union. It was the first new recorded work from either of them in nearly two decades. The album’s collection of 15 atmospheric, moody ballads that also utilized danceable beats and rhythms. They brought in numerous different people to sing lead on the various tracks including Beth Cannon, Hazel Wilde, and Tim Smith. 2021’s double album In Quiet Moments found them doubling down on their creative method and their sound by fashioning 16 more atmospheric tracks and lyrics that touched loosely on the theme of mortality, as Raymonde was grieving the death of his mother. The album featured some of the same singers that appeared on their debut, but also included addition artists signed to Bella Union.
