Louis Cheung

Born in Hong Kong on January 11, 1980, Louise Cheung is a Cantopop singer, songwriter, and actor. Originally an actor, he began his career in 1984 in a Nestle commercial. Cheung attended The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and became a stage actor as well as continuing to work on television in commercials and shows as well as movies. In 2005, at the age of 25, he released his first single, “Mad U So”, and his debut album To Be or Not To Be. He received many awards for the album and it’s singles including three from the Ultimate Song Chart Awards: Best Male Newcomer, Music Composer Award, and Singer/Songwriter Award. His second album, 將繼衝 (2006), featured the single “烏蠅鏡”, a duet with his future wife Kay Tse. Further albums included Kidult (2007), Rock N Break (2008), B.C. (2009), and 456 (2010). Throughout his career, he wrote songs for other Cantopop artists including Eason Chan, Eric Sun, Joey Yung, Hacken Lee, and Leo Ku. Cheung’s music career has taken a backseat to his successful acting career but he has continued to remain active in music. In July 2020, he released the Americana/blues influenced single “David Harleyson”.
