Japanese voice actress and pop star, Maaya Uchida was born on December 27, 1989, in Tokyo. Her childhood passion for video games, combined with an interest in theatre, led her to pursue a career in voice acting. After studying the craft, she landed her first professional voiceover role in 2009. She began working steadily in various anime series from 2010 and expanded her work to animated films and video games by 2013. In 2014, Uchida launched her musical career with the single “Soushou Innocence,” which was followed by “Gimme! Revolution” later that year. Both songs were included on her debut album, PENKI (2015), which broke into the top 10. That same year, she was awarded Best Voice Actress at the Seiyu Awards. As well as a successful voiceover career, Uchida maintained popularity as a singer with hits like “+INTERSECT+” and “c.o.s.m.o.s,” both top 10 tracks in 2017. These songs were featured on her 2018 album Magic Hour, which also reached the top 10. Her subsequent album, HIKARI (2021), peaked at number 12 and included hit songs such as “Youthful Beautiful,” “Kodou Escalation,” “No Scenario,” “Heartbeat City/Itsuka Kumo ga Haretanara,” and “Strobe Memory.” Uchida continued to release successful singles, including “Kokoeru?” (2022), which climbed to number 12, as well as “Loud Hailer” and “Love You Tender!” (2023), which reached numbers 14 and 12, respectively. She returned in January 2024 with the single “CHA∞IN” and her fourth album, TOKYO-BYAKUYA, was released on May 29, 2024.
