Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, MacKenzie Porter is a country singer-songwriter, pianist, and actress. She grew up on a cattle and bison ranch playing the piano from the age of four and performing with a family band. Her brother, Kalan, would make his mark first as the winner of Canadian Idol in 2004. She began her entertainment career as an actor, starring in shows such as Dinosapien (2007), Wild Roses (2009) and R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour (2011, 2012). After moving to Vancouver, she turned her attention to a music career and released her first single, “I Wish I'd Known” (2012), which was followed by “Never Gonna Let You.” Merging traditional and modern country styles, she released her self-titled debut album in 2014. Moving to Nashville, Tennessee, MacKenzie Porter sang on Chris Lane's song “Circles,” taken from his 2016 album Girl Troubles. She achieved her first number 1 hit with “About You” in 2018, which was closely followed by two more number 1s: “These Days” and “Seeing Other People.” All three hits were featured on 2020’s Drinkin’ Songs: The Collection EP. She then collaborated with Canadian country artist Virginia to Vegas on his 2021 single “This Sucks,” and with Dallas Smith on his “One Too” single in 2022. MacKenzie Porter’s next number 1 single was 2022’s “Pickup,” which was the first single lifted from her long-awaited second album. That sophomore full-length didn’t arrive until 2024 when she finally released Nobody’s Born with a Broken Heart, which also included the singles “Chasing Tornadoes,” “Bet You Break My Heart,” and “Have Your Beer.”
