Maite Perroni is an actress and singer, known as both a member of the Latin pop group RBD and, more recently, as a solo artist in her own right. Maite was born in Mexico City but lived in Guadalajara until she was 12, when she moved back to the capital. She began performing at an early age, appearing in a number of TV commercials and music videos. Her showbiz break came when, aged 20, she won the lead role of Guadalupe Fernández, aka Lupita, in the successful Argentine teen telenovela, 'Rebelde'. The show ran from 2004 to 2006, notching up a 440-episode run and making a star of Maite. The group RBD launched off the back of the show, featuring Maite and her 'Rebelde' co-stars Alfonso Herrera, Anahí, Dulce María, Christian Chávez and Christopher von Uckermann. The group was a massive success, releasing nine studio albums and selling over 15 million units over their five years together, singing in Spanish, Portugese and English. The group split in 2009, but Maite went on to have a musical career in her own right. For her role in the telenovela 'Cuidado con el ángel' Maite recorded three songs. She later recorded the song 'Mi Pecado', which was used as the opening theme for the telenovela of the same name, along with Reik. More telenovela tie-ins followed and in 2012 Maite signed to WEA Latina, where she recorded her debut album. Her first two singles, 'Tú y Yo' and 'Eclipse de Luna', both topped the Mexican charts. The album, also named 'Eclipse de Luna' (2013), fared nearly as well. It got to number three on the Mexican chart, nine on the US Top Latin albums chart and number two on the US Latin pop chart.
