MAMADRIVE

Mamadrive, a female-fronted power trio from Kobe, Japan, has remained independent, choosing to stay in their hometown rather than moving to the capital. The band formed with Masako Shibuya on bass and vocals, Manabu Ougi on drums, and Maika Sasakawa on guitar. They began their discography with the mini-album Karasu To Medama in 2010. In 2011, they released the single "Toberu"/"Yuurei Dance" and followed with a series of successful projects: the 2012 mini-album Mousou Tengoku and the 2013 mini-album Ai No Houchou both distributed by Lastrum. Their 2014 single "Onna No Ana" which also served as the main theme for the movie of the same name, explores themes of erotic possession and emotional extremities, echoing the intense narrative style found in Nagisa Oshima’s controversial film In The Realm Of The Senses. They disbanded on March 22, 2016.
