Mao Buyi, born Wang Weijia on October 1, 1994, in Tailai County, Heilongjiang, China, emerged as a notable Chinese singer-songwriter after winning the 2017 singing competition "The Coming One." Self-taught in music and originally a nursing student at Hangzhou Normal University, Mao used songwriting as a stress reliever during his internship at a Hangzhou hospital. His music, which authentically captures everyday life's subtleties, diverges from typical romantic themes, exploring feelings of hopelessness and aspirations. He has penned all the lyrics and compositions for his four studio albums and contributed to numerous soundtracks across various media, including his debut album Perfect Day (å¹³å¡çä¸å¤©) released in 2018, Xiao Wang å°ç (2020) and Lonely Planet 幼鏿å (2021). Mao's unique style and relatable lyrics won him multiple awards, including the Most Promising Male Singer and Best Singer-Songwriter at the Asian Music Awards. In 2024, Mao released his fourth album The Inner Venture (åéªç²¾ç¥).
