Marilyn Manson (born January 5, 1969 in Canton) is a singer, musician, actor and co-founder of the rock band of the same name, Marilyn Manson. Born Brian Hugh Warner, he first worked as a music journalist. That's how he met Trent Reznor of industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails. In 1994, Portrait Of an American Family, Marilyn Manson's debut album, was released. In addition to his dark electro-rock, the singer shocks audiences with his appearance at concerts. During his live shows, the singer usually appears with his face covered in white make-up and wears frightening contact lenses. After the Smells Like Children EP (1995), the next album is Antichrist Superstar (1996). The single " The Beautiful People " also put Marilyn Manson on the international map. In 1998, Marilyn Manson released their next album, Mechanical Animals, which took the band to their first number 1 in the US charts. The song " The Dope Show " attracts a lot of attention. After the lengthy Holy Wood album (2000), Marilyn Manson managed to break through worldwide with the following album The Golden Age Of Grotesque in 2003. The album became a Number 1 in the USA, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This was largely due to the opening single " Tainted Love ", a cover of a 1964 Gloria Jones song. Further albums followed with Eat Me, Drink Me (2007), The High End Of Low (2009), Born Villain (2012), The Pale Emperor (2015), Heaven Upside Down (2017) and We Are Chaos (2020), all of which regularly charted in the top 10 of the international charts. In 2021, the singer hit the headlines as several women accused him of sexual abuse. Despite this, he returned in 2024 with his twelfth studio album, One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1, which reached number 32 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. Preceded by the singles " As Sick as the Secrets Within ", " Raise the Red Flag " and " Sacrilegious ", the album also enters the Top 10 rock charts in France, Japan and Germany.
